Tokyo has one vending machine for each group of 20 inhabitants. In this super automatised city, one coin is all it takes to buy everything - from tea to lingerie. These solitary acts of consumption are part of the same logic that created the so-called “real dolls”, the life-sized, silicon made dolls that are used to fulfill the emptiness brought by extreme solitude.
